Google and Local Lighthouse settled an agreement for the last to stop making robocalls to Google My Business users and costumers. Google received thousands of complaints from users complaining that Local Lighthouse, a SEO based in Tustin, California, were making unsolicited robocalls offering services and claiming to be affiliated to Google.
In the case of Google Inc v Duffy [2017] SASFC 130 the Full Court of the Supreme Court of Australia on 4 October 2017 finds Google liable for the defamatory content of the hyperlinks and paragraphs resulting after the search of the respondent’s name on its own search engine service.
According to a report issued by the Wall Street Journal, Google's Academic Inc., Google has paid academics and professors to write papers supporting its views on public policy issues.
The report is based upon a study conducted by the non-profit advocacy group Campaign for Accountability that discovered 329 research papers concerning policy subjects published between 2005 to 2017 and funded by Google.
